Family:  Haemulidae (Grunts), subfamily: Haemulinae
Max. size:  30 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; depth range 3 - 18 m
Distribution:  Southeast Pacific: endemic to the Galapagos Islands.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Forms large daytime aggregations along walls and over rocky slopes, often in somewhat protected areas (Ref. 5227).
IUCN Red List Status: Vulnerable (VU); Date assessed: 25 May 2007 (D2) Ref. (119314)
Threat to humans:  harmless
