Max. size:  91.5 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated
Distribution:  Southwest Pacific: New Zealand and southern Australia.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Stays in holes and crevices. Feeds mainly on crabs and fish (Ref. 26966).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 18 August 2011 Ref. (120744)
Threat to humans:  harmless
Country info:  Known from Byron Bay, N.S.W. to St. Helen's, Tasmania and West Cape Howe to Shark Bay, W.A. (Ref. 7300, 115274).
