Adults occur solitarily or in small groups in lagoons, reef flats, passages, and outer reef slopes. Usually amongst coarse rubble or rock (Ref. 48636). Feed primarily on algae, but also takes copepods, isopods, and pelagic tunicates. Oviparous, distinct pairing during breeding (Ref. 205). Eggs are demersal and adhere to the substrate (Ref. 205). Males guard and aerate the eggs (Ref. 205).
